Holidays

Memorial Day "weekend" was our last holiday in New Canaan. Rob had already moved to AZ and started work at the beginning of May. After being gone for almost a month, he came back for a long weekend.

Rob flew in Friday morning and was able to pick up both of the boys from their schools (the boys were so excited he was home). Friday night we went to dinner in Westport.

Saturday we got up early and headed to the city. We started with a stop to the Doughnut Plant. They had too many options, that sounded too good, so we just ended up getting one of each.

We then thought the best way to commemorate Memorial Day would be to go to the Intrepid Museum.

It was a hot day, but the kids liked walking on the aircraft carrier deck and looking at all the planes. This is a picture of the family looking out on the Hudson (one of my favorite spots in all of NYC).
The kids testing out the bunk beds inside the ship.
Feeling what it is like to ride and row boat on the sea...
We ended the day heading over to Coney Island. To eat at the original Nathan's Hotdogs (where they have the hot dog eating contest on the 4th of July), hang out at the beach, and people watch (almost as good as the Jersey Shore).
EASTER!!!
For Easter we went to church and then over to the Wasdens' for an Easter Egg hunt and an Easter Feast.
NEW YEARS!!!
Grandma Shelley and Grandpa Bob came to bring in the New Year 2012 with us!! There was a big storm when they were suppose to fly in, so they ended up flying into Philadelphia and driving to our house. Having to deal with traveling and bad weather is never fun, but playing in the snow almost made up for it.

We spent a couple days in the city!! Seeing all the Christmas decor (Rockefeller Center Tree). We also went to the Rockettes at Radio City, which was amazing!!
M&M World (another favorite)
Grandpa and the boys got some souvenirs from M&M world...
We stayed in Time Square and were able to see them get everything set up for the big New Years Eve Party. We headed back to Connecticut before the festivities started. We had our own party in our warm house. We had yummy fondue and watch the ball drop on tv.

CHRISTMAS!!!
The boys on their new quads. They loved riding them all around the yard and taking them off jumps in the snow. Mom loved that there was a governor on them!!

Briggs, Dad, Ali, and Owen hanging out in their new PJs

The kids playing with their new Christmas stash!
Christmas Morning, lining up to go see what Santa Clause brought

Every year our little town has a sing-along on Christmas Eve. There are three churches right next to each other (called God's acre). Hundreds of people in the town come and sing Christmas carols at God's Acre. It was pretty incredible to see so many people of different faiths there singing Christmas Songs!

Owen, Briggs, Ali, and Santa at our house!! This was a pretty cool thing. We were getting ready for bed one night, when the door bell rand. Briggs went to answer it and who what it?? Saint Nick himself! He came in and let the kids play with his sleigh bells and let the kids tell him what they wanted for Christmas! The boys were in shock for days!!

THANKSGIVING!!!
We met up with Rob in NYC the night before Thanksgiving to see all of the balloons they use in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. We opted to not go to the parade the next morning. We thought it would be a little crazy with the kids. The boys loved to be able to see all the different balloons on tv the following day.
We made our first Thanksgiving Dinner and both decided that Thanksgiving was overrated. Rob might have even convinced me that tacos could be better that Turkey!!!
HALLOWEEN!!!
Our neighbors from South Carolina surprised the kids and came for Halloween weekend. We had a great time with them. Here are the kids all dressed up to go trunk or treating at the church. We also went to Briggs' school to see the kids do a parade in their costumes.

The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is still one of my favorite "tourist spots" in NYC!

Outside the Statue
Going across on the Ferry with Megan and Grandma and Grandpa Jocko

Briggs' and Owen's highlight. Being able to pick Lady Liberty's nose

WE'RE BACK!!

A year and a half and two moves later!!! I can't say I'll stay for long, but I will at least try to update the last year and a half of our lives (in no particular order). Since the last post, we have moved from Simpsonville, SC to New Canaan CT, and now on to Tucson, AZ. PHEWW!!! As we settle in to Tucson, I am missing good friends on the East Coast and all the fun adventures we had. Here are some of the things us Cunninghams are going to miss about the North East....

He's Leaving on a Midnight Plane Outta Georgia

Uncle Richard left on his mission for two years. He had a five hour layover in Atlanta, so the kids and Alisa decided to take a little road trip to keep him entertained while he waited for his flight to England. Not only were we excited to see Richard, but Alisa thought it would be a good experience for the boys to see Richard as "Elder Cunningham." On the way to Atlanta we talked about missions, why there are missionaries, and what missionaries do. Owen seemed to pick up on the important parts. Now every time we see the missionaries in our ward he asks... "Can they not watch tv or listen to music either?"

The kids were so excited to see Richard. Briggs wouldn't let go of him and Owen just kept running circles around him. It made it quite difficult to take any pictures.
Richard trying to hold on to all three kids. He kept asking...How did my mom do it with five?"

We headed over to the Georgia Aquarium, for a little entertainment (We forgot to check the "Missionary White Bible" to see if going to the aquarium during a layover was banned.)

Ali LOVED seeing Richard. She could not stop smiling at him.

Cheerio!!

Don't worry Pres... He only got his hand in the water
We wanted to make sure that Richard had plenty of time to get back before his plane left. We were about 15 minutes from the airport, so we thought leaving the aquarium 2 and a half hours would give him plenty of time. However, as we headed to the airport, we were sitting at a light waiting to turn left in the middle of downtown Atlanta. Richard asked, "Why is there a zebra running down the street?" I looked up and sure enough there was a zebra coming full force towards our car. We debated which was more important; get out the the zebra's way or find a camera, (We knew for believability this needed to be documented.) The zebra got to the middle of the intersection (about five feet from our car) stopped looked right, then looked left and then took a sharp right and ran down the street onto the freeway. Yes, that would be the freeway that we needed to get on to get Richard back to the airport. When we got onto the freeway it was like a parking lot. For a half hour we did not exceed the speed of 2 miles an hour. To make a long story not any longer, we did get Richard to the airport with a couple minutes to spare and he did make his plane. I know this story does not seem believable, that's why I have attached the story below...

Thank you Uncle Richard for the stuffed sharks, we sleep with them every night!!
