Road Trips

When we moved to Connecticut we knew that we were either going to get ALL of Rob or nothing at all. Rob's office was based out of our house, but every week he traveled anywhere from Maine to Delaware to South Carolina. One of the upsides to his traveling, was tagging along and getting to see so much of the Northeast.
This road trip took us to Hampton Beach, NH, Boston, Mass and Provence, RI.

The kids watching a movie in the hotel

A little pizza in the North End and over to Mike's Pastry shop for dessert

Checking out the USS Constitution

Briggs and Owen on a duck ride

Carousel ride and a dip in the pond at Boston Commons

I took the kids to Hampton Beach, NH for the day. I thought it was going to be a crazy day, but I soon realized it was the best place to take three little ones. We had a great time and had so much fun that we ended up staying over night.
Owen loved the sand, but not the water so much

Ali loved eating the sand
Briggs loved it all

It was a success!!!

Next trip... Mohegan Sun and Groton, CT
Rob had a conference at the Mohegan Sun. We tagged along. Friday night Rob and I went to dinner and the kids went to a kids club (everyone's highlight of the trip). Saturday we went to the Submarine Museum. The kids loved pretending they were driving the nuclear sub. I loved our 90 year old tour guide who was stationed in Idaho Falls and worked for Admiral Rickover.
We also walked through a real submarine, which was very cool!

Since Briggs and Owen had a Spring break and Rob did not, we decided to hit the road with him. The kids and I drove 9 hours to meet up with him in Buffalo, NY to see the Niagara Falls. It was one of those places I wanted to check off the list, and I actually thought it was a lot better than I expected. The kids really enjoyed it.

Down at the bottom of the falls

The following day we went to Palmyra, NY

A family pic. in Skaneateles, NY a little town on the finger lakes that we drove through and loved. We liked it so much that we actually stopped and walked around the lake and had lunch.

Inside Joseph Smith's house listening to the Sister Missionary go on and on and on... I think Rob captured a picture of the kids the only time they were sitting still.

Ali and mommy looking for Briggs and Owen in the Sacred Grove.

After taking a pit stop at home for a day we were back on the road. Next stop was Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey.

Owen's favorite ride, taking after his mom.
Briggs taking after his dad, the bigger the better!

The next day it was off to the the Amish Country in PA. We spent the morning touring the town in a horse and buggy.
Are you sure we are all going to fit in there???

Enjoying the ride!!

In case you were wondering... Yes, the beard is real!!

Next we were off to Hershey, PA and Hershey World! The smell of chocolate was enough to put a smile on our faces.
Briggs and his favorite "candy bar"

The boys love their chocolate (wonder where they get that from??)

Trip to Paris

Rob had to go to a work meeting in Paris. I have always wanted to go to Paris, so I decided to tag along. We were lucky enough to have Rob's parents come watch the kids.

On the way to Paris we scheduled a long lay over in Amsterdam. We got there in the early morning. The only ones awake were us and the ladies in the red light district so we walked the canals until things started opening up. Then we had breakfast and went for a boat ride on through the canals. The city was very cool and the history was quite amazing.
The Eiffel Tower

We loved walking around Paris and people watching (of course with Rob as the tour guide there was always an agenda).
The Louvre
Notre Dame
Versailles (My favorite)

The last two days of our trip Rob had meetings. Luckily for me, Elissa (a good friend from South Carolina, who's husband also works for Michelin) came to Paris too. Their family moved to England right before we moved to Connecticut. We were able to spend hours in a cafe getting all caught up! Oh yeah and a little site seeing too.

I don't even know if the kids noticed that we were gone. Well, maybe they noticed, but I can't say they didn't have more fun with the Grandparents than with Mom and Dad. The only big event while we were gone... Briggs lost his first tooth!!
